I've started this blog as a place to talk about the trials and tribulations of my writing. Yes, I’m one of the millions of people who think they have what it takes to be the next JK Rowling.
You may laugh, you may scoff, you may even be right (lord knows I agree with you sometimes) but I’m still going to try. And blog about it.
I will also post excerpts from the book sometimes so you can judge for yourself if you think it's any good or not.
The Story so far...
I’ve been writing since I was in school, scribbling my musings in little notebooks. Thankfully we have come out of the dark ages now and I don’t need to subject you all to my unintelligible scrawl! First I discovered the school computers (I’ll bet that gave the teachers a good laugh if they ever found it) then about 10 years ago I got my first home computer. I haven’t looked back since.
I have now completed my first novel, which is to say I finally have 59,000 words that I think are decent enough to publish. Not in their present form, I’m sure it needs a lot of editing (and I think chapter one needs a rewrite) but I’m mostly happy with what I have. As such after a few minor alterations I will start sending it to publishers.
The new Writers and Artists Handbook is released next month (June 09) and by the time it lands on my doorstep I hope to be happy enough with the first three chapters to start sending it out.
One final note, I am dyslexic. I am very lucky in that I can read with relatively little difficulty since I love reading and books have helped me through some very tough times I my life. They have also inspired me to now write my own in the hope of touching someone else's life, albeit in a small way.
Please accept my apology in advance for any spelling mistakes you will fine here. My grammar is quite good (so I’ve been told, probably thanks to all that reading) but my spelling is awful and I’m certain that I will never catch all the mistakes here. Sorry.
